The Monologue Carousel is a collection of audition material written in Jamaican Patois. The manuscript’s written to support professional actors for auditions, aspiring actors auditioning for drama school and upcoming graduates who are seeking great showcase pieces. This book will allow Actors to expand on their range, look for a text to stretch them and study and improve upon the dialect. Many of the speeches have been drawn from the Jamaican culture, social and global issues along with the history of the country. There’s a mix of character types to suit all Actors, some of them complex, over the top yet others are down to earth. The majority of the book's language is written in hard Patois, other speeches dip in and out of the dialect whilst others may have the slightest hint of the accent. The setting for each of the Monologues takes place in Jamaica or the UK. This book gives Actors access to authentic Jamaican Speeches which they will be able to use not only as a tool for further development with their Acting but also for professional auditions.
