Empress P is an up and coming poet who started to write short stories about 10 years ago, but found writing poetry more of her style. Empress P’s inspiration for her words of expressions is from her life experiences, people around her and her view of society over past 60 years on this planet. She is motivated by dub poets that use their words and rhythms to convey a message e.g. Sue Brown, More Culture and Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze For a while she’s been on a journey in embracing her ‘africaness’ for example doing African dance to understand her connection to the universe and her ancestors. This has fuelled her passion for to compile her first collection of her words of expressions ‘I’ve Landed’ about her observations of this ever-changing world around her as an imaginative black woman.
